Internationally there is a growing cocern about the state of the environment. This has led to a demand for more environment friendly cultivation practices. In other words, sustainable systems where organic wastes are being recycled as sources of plantfood.
For a long time organic matter was the only source of plantfood. However, organic matter supplies could not keep up with the demands of intensive production. In addition the balance of macronutrients in organic matter was inadequate for intensive production systems.
When chemical fertilizers arrived on the scene about 100 years ago, organic matter took a back seat to products that handled easier and could be formulated according to specific requirements. Nutrient management was just so much easier.
With the new Terramax range of pelleted, enriched organic fertilizers, Bionamix is now combining the advantages of organic and inorganic fertilizers. The resulting products contain at least 50% organic matter and have balanced NPK and micronutrient ratios. The products are in a stable pelleted form and are easy to store, handle and apply.
In trials the Terramax organo mineral combination performed better than either organic or inorganic fertilizers on their own. This synergy leads to a greater efficiency of the applied fertilizer and can be explained as follows.
Organic fertilizer or humic forming matter in the root zone influences the dynamics of plant nutrients. As the Terramax pellet absorbs water and breaks down, the organic base forms a colloidal or glue-like medium.
This medium supplies energy for the microbiological processes and also serves as a reservoir for the applied nutrients. This increases the soil’s ability to protect nutrients against leaching. When this organic medium breaks down it also releases nutrients to the plants. A phasing in the nutrient release to the plant is thus achieved.
Organic colloids also improve soil structure and increase the water holding capacity, while the inorganic enrichment ensures the correct, balanced supply of nutrients.
All of the above translate to the following advantages:
Increased soil microbial activity
Reduction in nutrient losses through leaching
Slower release of nutrients
Better plant performance
Less frequent fertilizer applications
The wide range of Bionamix Terramax products include 12.3.3(18), 9.2.9(20), 10.2.6(18)M, 7.7.7(21) en 7.1.13(21. Excellent results are not only achieved in agriculture, but also on golf courses, sport fields and recreational areas.
From our factories in Potchefstroom and Klapmuts we are able to supply product country wide
